The Schweizerische Mustermesse (or Muba, for short) will open its doors in Basel again on 24 April. Known across Switzerland and beyond, the aim of this trade fair is to present products of Swiss origin to the public and experts in particular. Securiton is taking part in this trade fair for the 14th time in succession since 1952, and will showcase its latest products in the field of alarm systems for fires, intrusion, hold-ups and operational monitoring. In just a short time, our stand has undergone an astonishing transformation. In the first few years, it used to be possible to put it together quickly and with relatively little effort shortly before the fair opened. Now, however, the preparations for a new stand set-up take around six months.
Advancements in technology have also forced us to adapt to today’s high-quality presentation methods. The big difference between yesterday and today is illustrated by the two photographs of our stand from 1952 and 1964. From 1952 to 1963, Securiton was located in Hall 2b, with its prominent pillars. Last year, we were assigned a temporary location in the new building (Hall 24). This year, we will have a fixed location in the basement of the new building (Hall 22) for the first time. Of course, this also entails the redesign of our stand.
What will the new stand look like? To ensure that the individual areas can be represented as effectively as possible, its design is clearly divided into three parts – fire, transmission and monitoring, and intrusion and hold-ups. Reference is also made to the Securitas/Securiton connection by showing the various technical offices, branches and ancillary branches with lights on a map of Switzerland.
Now let’s take a closer look at the individual areas in our exhibition. In the fire sector, a smoke detector and three thermal detectors can be seen, each on a separate rack. It is worth mentioning that our differential detector was awarded the “Die gute Form” award at the Muba in 1964. These detectors are connected to a CFZ fire alarm control panel with power supply unit. The transmission and monitoring sector features a Telealarm with spoken text for the alarm signal and a UEM2 transmission device, plus a Signaphon in polling mode. This is used to demonstrate how the current level of a reservoir can be scanned using seven tone signals.
In the intrusion and hold-ups sector, hold-up plates, hold-up rails and alarm glass – among many other products – are connected to a DEZ control panel. This is a rough overview of our trade fair programme for 1965. But what is the significance of our annual participation in the Muba? After all, we stopped our participation at Comptoir Suisse and Olma after attempts in 1953 and 1954.
Sales or orders are not made at the Muba. Our stand is purely advisory and informative. Based on their impressions at the Muba, visitors should be able to get an idea of the possibilities arising from our production. The staff at our stand can discuss new prospects with visitors and point out new possibilities to our customers. For those with only a passing interest, the idea is to at least spread the word about the Securiton name. In spite of the hard work and great sacrifices connected with it each year, the Muba thus offers critically important possibilities for us and is a trade fair that we can no longer afford to miss.
