Management at the Securitas Group has reviewed the strategy of the Alarm and Security Systems division (UB A&S) and confirmed its previous direction. However, there will be significant changes in product provision. These also apply to Securiton AG, which now becomes the competence centre for security and special fire detectors.
The individual companies should maintain their independent and consistent focus on their regional, national and, in some cases, international (export) markets. However, a cross-company coordination of the relevant resources is now unavoidable. The reasons for this include the general increase in development costs, the ever-shorter lifespan of the products and the increasing price pressure on production and distribution costs. For this reason, the Head of Group has opted for a new, UB-wide solution.
Three new centres of excellence
Within the UB A&S, three competence centres are being formed for product provision. These ensure continuity in the respective product life cycle for the benefit of all UB companies and partners – from the definition of the product and its development to withdrawal or renewal. The tasks are distributed as follows:
Central position of international Product Management
UB management has worked with the departments involved to deal with all the questions raised and decided on the necessary implementation measures. The international Product Management team, which reports directly to UB management, plays a particularly important role between development and sales. This recently created group is tasked with continuously exploring the requirements of the target markets and taking into account the sometimes considerably different requirements in such a way as to ensure optimum marketing by all companies during the product launch.
Approval and initial successes
With the measures taken, it was possible to clearly demarcate the individual responsibility of the UB companies and dispense with overarching interfaces. The responsibilities and procedures are regulated in guidelines. At a conference in Munzingen (D), the presentation of the innovations met with a positive response from the executives involved. Initial results are already available and are very encouraging. It is now clear that everyone is in the same boat and that we can only survive in the face of tough competition if everyone pulls in the same direction.
Securiton undergoing change
The organisational chart shows the following changes for Securiton AG, which is the new competence centre for security and special fire detectors:
The assigned order (competence centre) is a major challenge for all Securiton AG employees. Ultimately, the aim is to further expand our leading market position in security and special fire detectors with innovative products and other solutions. This is not only for our own benefit, but is also as an important success factor for all UB companies and partners.
