This April, the Securitas Group acquired g+m elektronik AG. Based in Oberbüren in the canton of St. Gallen, the company and its 60 employees develops, manufactures and sells acoustic systems for evacuation purposes as well as acoustic and clock systems. “Journal” took a look around the head office.
The company building of g+m elektronik AG in the industrial district of Bürerfeld near Oberbüren impresses with the new building attached to the old factory – a red cube with a high window front. On the front is lettering that can be seen from far and wide – “Acoustic Systems”. It is thus clear what goes on inside – the company and its 60 employees develops, manufactures and sells acoustic systems for evacuation purposes as well as acoustic and clock systems.
A history of Swiss quality
Founded in 1969 as Grauer Elektroakustik AG and continued a year later as Grauer & Müller AG in Degersheim, the company later moved nearby to Oberbüren. When the current Chief Executive Officer Remo Gori took over the company, Grauer & Müller became g+m elektronik AG. The company has now established a leading position in the market for voice alarm systems and has expanded its activities technologically and geographically. Today, the company works with subsidiaries in Germany, the Netherlands and many export partners to serve security markets throughout Europe and the Middle East.
Strict requirements
On one hand, the strength of g+m elektronik AG is that it is able to offer a complete package in the areas of acoustics, clocks and evacuation. On the other hand, it also makes use of products developed and manufactured in-house, which it maintains itself and also services. The main focus is on voice alarm transmission. The tried-and-tested acoustic systems for evacuation purposes are among the best on the market. So that the voice alarm systems also offer instantly understandable announcements, the Acoustics area ensures ideal sound that can be individually tailored to any room. It is thus no wonder that many churches – which often have rather difficult acoustics – are equipped with acoustic systems from g+m elektronik. Many schools and office buildings also rely on the high-quality voice alarm systems from Oberbüren.
Ideal partnership
Solutions for fire detection and electroacoustic emergency warning are increasingly merging, as every second counts between the outbreak of a fire, its detection and evacuation. Building regulations also increasingly require standardised (EN 54-16) voice alarm systems that are coupled with the fire detector, which has resulted in an increased demand for combined solutions in recent years. The Securitas Group and g+m elektronik AG have recently met this demand together. The good basis for cooperation has now led to the decision to pursue common paths and to connect the strengths of the two companies. Remo Gori will remain Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of g+m elektronik AG. Thanks to the partnership, Securiton AG and GmbH, Hekatron Vertriebs GmbH, Schrack Seconet and the numerous export partners of the Alarm and Security Systems division of the Securitas Group will offer a uniform, high-quality solution for voice alarm transmission.
