Dübendorf is home to a building that is unique in the world. The modular research and innovation building NEST (Next Evolution in Sustainable Building Technologies): New construction methods and real-life living and working environments are tested on several floors.
DFAB House
The NEST innovation building of the Empa Materials Research Institute and the Eawag Water Research Institute in Dübendorf is a large-scale research laboratory. At the top: the three-storey DFAB House on which Securiton is involved in research. It is the world's first fully functional residential building designed on a computer. Researchers from 8 professorships at ETH Zurich and 25 Swiss companies, including Securiton AG, were involved. The integration of Securiton security systems into these new, digital ecosystems is also being tested. This involves intelligently connecting the tried-and-tested sensors and controls with other devices. This allows the devices to independently exchange information and perform actions, which provides additional convenience. For example, when leaving the house, the lights are switched off, the heating is turned down, the blinds are closed and the hobs are switched off. In a friendly voice, the SecuriSafe burglar alarm system from Securiton uses a loudspeaker to inform people to leave the house because the surveillance system is being switched on. For Securiton, this is an ideal opportunity to test the latest technologies and products in a real-life environment and thus make a contribution to a globally pioneering project.
The future of the Securitas Group is also changing
Several changes are due to take place in the management positions of the Securitas Group.
Daniel Liechti joined the Securitas Group on 1 January 2018 and, following an intensive introductory phase, will officially take over as Head of the Alarm and Security Systems division (UB A&S) from 1 January 2019. Daniel Liechti already worked at Securiton AG from 1999 to 2004 in management positions in the Development division and then as CEO of the ERNI Group, which is also active in various mandates in the Securitas Group companies. In the following years, Daniel Liechti will also take a seat on the Securitas Group's Executive Board in addition to heading the A&S division and will take over the CEO position from Armin Berchtold as of 1 January 2021.
